It's the final day before Easter Sunday - but the disciples don't know that.
What they know is that life as they know it has been changed forever. They've entered a period of uncertainty - what will happen now? What should we do?
We know that many of them were hiding; sequestered away in homes, keeping to themselves, limiting their access to the outside word because it might not be safe.
Huh. Sounds familiar.
And yet it is said that on the seventh day, God rested. When our response is to let fear spike, to hide from our own emotions and endless to do lists, God's response was to take a deep breath and say:
"It is good."
On this Holiest of Saturdays, as we ponder the disciples and their uncertainty alongside our own, may we rest.
Take a moment to listen to Marcello Sequeira sing "God Rested" by Andrew Peterson, and then sit in today's reading from Genesis 1:1-2:3.
