God continued to work in miraculous ways in The Community Youth in 2023. We saw countless answers to prayer, a baptism in Thetis Lake, and consistently saw God’s work in the youth of Esquimalt at our evening youth meetings, afternoon BBQs, daily breakfast program, camp weekends, outings, and conversations.

July '23 saw the departure of Cam, our founder and director as he moved to Alberta in order to be closer to Candace’s family. His last night saw a reunion of about 40-50 youth and their families to celebrate the ministry and relationships he built during the past 12 years. During this vibrant meeting he shared the Gospel. Through a miracle that only God could orchestrate, a former youth from the mainland was able to attend and prayed with Cam afterward to follow Jesus.  

Although Cam is deeply missed by everyone, Jenn has taken over as director and the ministry has blossomed in extraordinary ways under her leadership. She reports that even though it has changed a lot it still has the same heartbeat and God continues to use it to accomplish His purposes. She is an extraordinary person and leader and God has used her to connect in so many special ways with so many youth at TCY and Esquimalt High.

Many new youth, especially from New Life (Jenn’s church) have started attending regularly and those youth are bringing more friends to TCY. The daily breakfast program, BBQs, and other meetups have seen God forging connections and sparking conversations about Jesus, especially among the old-time TCY members, many of whom do not yet know Jesus.

Carlos, our longtime volunteer, has also begun in a new part-time paid role at TCY! Over decade+ of his leadership he has donated tens of thousands of hours of his time and established life- and soul-saving connections with many youth. He continues to raise his financial support so please keep him in your prayers as he works to accomplish his goal.
