"I know there's a problem with racism in Canada, but what can I do?"
It's easy to feel overwhelmed. One of the first steps we can take is to listen: listen to folks sharing their stories, and hear what they have to say.
Over the next few weeks, we'll post some books we and others have found helpful on this journey. This list was brought to our attention by the organization Healthy Growing Churches.
This week's highlight is "I'm Still Here: Black Dignity in a World made for Whiteness" by Austin Channing Brown and is one of Ministry Manager Rebekah Hagan Ahenda's favourite books this year: "From a leading voice on racial justice, an eye-opening account of growing up Black, Christian, and female that exposes how white America’s love affair with 'diversity' so often falls short of its ideals."
It's available at several local book stores, including Munro's Books, Bolen Books, and Russell Books. You can also find it at the library.
