Much has happened since our Church's Special General Meeting in November. We would like to keep you informed along the way so you are aware of the plans that are developing On This Site.

  • The District Finance Committee and the District Executive Committee (DexCom) approved our proposal for Phase 1 of the On This Site plan.
  • The Property Committee has engaged a Victoria based architect, Douglas Scott, to work closely with the committee and to oversee the initial piece of the project (Phase 1a) which deals primarily with the retaining wall out front and work related to the drain pipes that have been exposed.
  • We are proceeding on only what must be done at this point. Work at this stage is focused on the retaining wall and pipes.
  • We have heard, and share great concern for our accessibility to remain open to all, and so we are working with an engineer to approve a plan to put in the retaining wall without removing the front ramp to our main level entrance.
  • Townley Street has been filled with construction activity, as both the Townley Place project nears completion, and Saanich municipality has been installing a sidewalk from Richmond Road to the East side of our property. We appreciate that this makes vehicle access to our parking lot challenging, and we appreciate the patience of all who come on site.
  • As we look further ahead, in order to address our issues of access, the best solution appears to be to raise the urgency for an elevator that can service all levels of our building well from the parking level.
  • The Property Committee is in prayer for the wisdom as to how to best fund the whole building project to completion, as it is evident that our full On This Site project (Phases 2,3 & 4) will exceed the funds we have available.
  • We also continue to pray that we will find favour with our municipality and neighbours as we work to best serve our wider community.
