We are aware of the recent announcements from the PHO removing restrictions on worship gatherings, effective March 11, 2022.
As has always been our posture, we will react to any ease in restrictions with pause, gentleness, clarity, and intentionality. We will take all the time our community needs to discern what it looks like to move forward in wisdom, diversity, and intentional care for all who gather with us.
Our current Covid-19 protocols were written and approved by the Church Leadership Team and Board on December 1, 2021, a time when there were no restrictions on worship services. Until the CLT and Board can meet to discern what it looks like to move forward on this and any other PHO announcements, these protocols will continue to be in effect out of our desire to foster welcoming and inclusive worship spaces.
As a reminder, here are the first two paragraphs of our current policy, which you can find here in full.
Currently, our provincial government has not placed any restrictions or requirements upon worship services in our health authority. There are, however, many best practices that have been recommended and the latitude granted to each local church to develop and enforce their own Covid policies.
It is the desire of the VAC leadership to provide clarity for all our community and do our best to balance public safety with our high value of inclusion. No policy will be able to perfectly balance this tension. Instead, we will adopt an imperfect but clearly communicated policy.
We wish to express gratitude to everyone who calls VAC home. We have seen you lean into Jesus and care for each other in inspiring ways with every change. We look to the future with joy, knowing it comes with not less but more opportunities to make Jesus known among us, around us, and beyond us, together.
With gratitude,
The VAC Staff Team
