A note from Ministry Manager Bekah Hagan Ahenda on today's Worship at Home Music from Sunday's service:
"It's been a hard couple of weeks in my house. My family can't just close the computer or turn off the news and forget about racism and racial justice - we live with it every day. I am grateful, though, to be a part of a staff and a faith community that isn't afraid to have hard conversations about this stuff with humility, grace, and vulnerability.
When I think about this song and the concept of the Goodness of God, I am thankful that God's goodness is not only a soft and fluffy concept of personal comfort and peace. Yes, God's goodness is reflected in our own inner peace, but God's goodness is also turning tables in the synagogue when he sees injustice. God's goodness is also righteous anger against those who abuse power and take advantage of the vulnerable.
God's goodness is instilling in us the ability to continually learn from our mistakes, forgive ourselves and each other, and walk humbly forward. God's goodness is the promise of a day when evil powers and principalities like racism crumble to make way for truth and reconciliation and real peace - peace that sees every person welcome with equal access to the Table.
The goodness of God is also that we are invited to participate in this peacemaking, however imperfectly.
May we sing of that goodness, too, and may it be oh so evident in our lives. Thanks, fam. -Love Bekah"
