Written by Mark Ahenda for the Prayers of the People on Sunday October 24, 2021. Beginning, end, and style borrowed from the Anglican Common Book of Prayer.

Almighty God,
to you all hearts are open,
all desires known,
and from you no secrets are hidden.
Cleanse the thoughts of our hearts by the inspiration of your Holy Spirit,
that we may perfectly love you,
and worthily magnify your holy name;
through Christ our Lord.
Amen.

And now, in peace let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.

For peace from on high and for our salvation, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.

For the peace of the whole world, for the welfare of the holy Church of God, and for the unity of all, let us pray to the Lord.

Lord, hear our prayer.

For our Board of Elders and our Church Leadership Team as they continue to navigate the complexities of our Covid-affected world, that you would guide them with compassion and grace, let us pray to the Lord.

For right dealings with our Indigenous brothers and sisters, for the Lekwungen-speaking peoples of the Esquimault and Songhees Nations, and the W̱SÁNEĆ peoples, and for a spirit of reconciliation and healing among us all, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.

For our neighbours in the community, especially those in the complex next door and our new tenants in the Queenston property, that you would provide and care for them, and you motivate us to be compassionate and active neighbours to those around us, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.

For the leaders of our city, our province, and our nation, for wisdom, grace, and discernment for those who take on such great responsibilities, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.

For all peoples of this world who cry out in need, that you would make your presence known among all nations and to all people, let us pray to the Lord.
Lord, hear our prayer.

Almighty God,
you have given us grace at this time with one accord to make our common supplications to you;
and you promise that when two or three are gathered together in your name you will hear our requests: fulfil now, O Lord, the desires and petitions of our hearts as may be best for us;
granting us in this world knowledge of your truth, and in the world to come life everlasting;
for you, Father, are good and loving, and we glorify you through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord,
in the Holy Spirit, One God, now and for ever.
Amen.
